-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello all, friends, family and Rebellion.
I'm the new social chair for the 2007-2008 season of the LA Rebellion Rugby Club. We are a group comprised of guys (and gals if so interested) from all walks of life and backgrounds coming together in a great team spirit of fun, competition, social awareness and brotherhood.
I would like tell you all about some of our upcoming events, who we're partnered with and some of our goals for the season.
First off: I definitely want to acknowledge The Eagle LA for being a great group of guys and stepping up as our new sponsor. With that being said we'll be putting on fundraisers and events at The Eagle LA throughout the year and would love to see you there.
Why fundraisers? Well, to get some cold hard cash of course because we want to go play with our fellow ruggers in Ireland! Yep, you heard right. 2008 is the year of the Bingham Cup in Dublin, Ireland! Our charity events throughout the next 12 months will go towards this amazing tribute tournament and our general team coffers.
So, here's where you all come in:
Attendance:
come out and play with us. Check out our website for events, games, socials and fundraisers. Come up and say hi when you see us out and about, we're nice and only tackle when provoked.
Donations and Stuff:
If you have anything (I do mean anything, I like surprises) that you would be willing to graciously donate for our raffles and fundraising parties please contact me. DVD's, gift certificates for dinners, movies, social events, house cleaning, car detailing, trips, you name it we'll be more than happy to accept it and have it part of our cache of cool stuff to play with. Who knows, you might be the lucky recipient of something at one of our events!
Merchandise:
Who doesn't look hot in orange and black? At our Eagle events, on our website and through team members you can purchase Rebellion glasses, shirts and as-sundry paraphernalia that just makes you cool.
So, come out and join us, our first event is Friday the 13th at The Eagle LA. If you want to play, donate, chat or chill give me a ring or email. I hope to hear from you all soon. Check out all the websites below.

Need I say more?
Orlando spent his last night at a theatre, watching Pirates of the Carribbean 3, with his friends. Afterward, he dropped them off at home and headed towards his own apartment on North Sweetzer Avenue, between Santa Monica and Sunset Boulevard. Sometime before midnight, the sound of gunfire was heard. Alert neighbors were horrified to find him lying on the street. Severely injured. Alone. Emergency Response Services were summoned and he was transported to the hospital, but by that time, it may have already been too late. He had been mortally wounded. He was pronounced dead.
[An investigation is ongoing. There are so many questions that are being asked. So many answers that we desperately want to find. If you have any information regarding this crime, please call the Sheriff Department, Homicide Division, at 323.89.5500. ]
He was born in Managua, Nicaragua. When he was 8 years old he emigrated, with his mother and older sister, to the United States, where they lived in the Bronx. He had always had a certain artistic passion that was not fully developed. He had chosen a career that appeared promising, however, a certain change in the business climate caused career setbacks nationwide. He decided to change his path. He left his friends and family in the boroughs of New York and drove all the way Los Angeles where he began to unleash his passion and pursue his dream of acting.
Many of us knew Orlando from one of the Cantina's on a West Hollywood boulevard, where he worked as a server, bartender and manager, while developing his craft, gaining experience and earning acting, producing and writing credits. (www.imdb.com/name/nm1554972/bio) Whether someone first met him at Fiesta Cantina on Santa Monica Boulevard, or later on when he went up the hill to Cabo Cantina on Sunset Boulevard, wherever he was, he most surely made an impression on everyone that he met. Once he got to West Hollywood, he met many new people and created such a strong bond with those close friends and colleagues, that they became his second family. Whatever interaction you may have had with him, will most certainly find many fond memories to reflect upon. ( www.myspace.com/extremecool)
This act of violence has one consequence that is very clear. A beautiful life was cut short. An entire neighborhood may no longer feel safe. A financial and emotional burden has been created for his family and friends. Orlando's biological family are traveling to California in order to claim his body and take him back home to New York for burial. His West Hollywood family is still numb with shock and utter disbelief. The Cantina family has lost a dear member. West Hollywood will surely miss him.
A Remembrance Ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 03, 2007, at 8:00 PM on the Rooftop Lounge at Fiesta Cantina (8851 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA 90069). Join us as we gather to share the memories and celebrate the life of Orlando Ortega. Fiesta Cantina will also donate all sales on that night, beginning at 8:00 PM, toward funeral costs and expenses. Invite your friends to join us for a cocktail, every purchase will help.
A Memorial Fund has been established, to raise additional funds in order to defray funeral and travel expenses for his family. Donations accepted at the Remembrance Ceremony as well as at:
On Saturday nights, POPULAR is the hottest spot in West Hollywood. It's Pop music, straight up. Attitude given away nightly. Go go boyz and girlz. Drama and silliness. 9 PM to closing time. We have a capacity crowd every weekend and arrival before 10:30 is recommended.
I know that when CHI CHI LARUE appears at an event, she always hass a built in entourage full of the hottest porn stars. Her fans flock to those events so that they can meet her, hear her spin, and just maybe catch a glimpse of their favorite porn stars. Now that she's been thrown in the mix, can you imagine the kind of eye candy that will show up to her debut at POPULAR ? It's gonna be a madhouse.
See ya there!
